Our Team is our greatest asset and we are proud to work with talented people.
This March our Senior Scientist Ana Oliveira celebrates her first Stemversary and thus, in this #OurTeam “episode” we had a chat with her.
Holding a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering by the University of Minho and a Ph.D in Molecular and Environmental Biology by the University of Minho in collaboration with the University of Ghent, Ana has over 10 years of experience in pre-clinical R&D projects in the biomedical field.
We asked Ana a few questions to know her daily motivation:
Describe this past year at Stemmatters in one small sentence.
This past year at Stemmatters has been an incredible journey of personal growth, expansion of horizons and challenging experiences, which has allowed me to grow not only as a scientist, but also as a human being.
What led you to join Stemmatters?
Joining Stemmatters was an opportunity to build specific skills I wanted to develop in my career, while working in an industry that has always fascinated me. I strongly relate with the company vision, and being part of such a highly innovative biotech company in the north of Portugal was a strong motivation to join the team.
How would you describe Stemmatters’ Team?
Working at Stemmatters is working in a very inspiring environment. The team is young and dynamic, with a strong sense of belonging and cooperation. It is very present in our daily routines how everyone works towards the same objectives and shares the same enthusiasm. I believe Stemmatters’ team is one of its most valuable assets.
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who is just starting a career in a life sciences SME?
Be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment; be open to learn something new on a daily basis, and embrace all the opportunities this career has to offer. This is a very challenging profession, but to be able to do something that can have an impact in other people's lives is extremely rewarding.
